On 21st and 22 October, the EVHA AGM 2026 brought ventilation hygiene professionals from across Europe together in Bardolino, on the shores of Lake Garda. This year’s AGM was particularly significant as it marked the 30th anniversary of the European Ventilation Hygiene Association.
30 years of EVHA: from a Swedish Idea to a European voice
EVHA’s story begins in Sweden. In 1991, it became the first country in the world to make ventilation inspections mandatory after public investigations linked poorly maintained systems to health problems in buildings. Inspired by this model, Swedish entrepreneur Roger Malmström began forging connections with professionals from around the world. Over the following years, a small group of Europeans, including Brian Hargreaves, Oscar Rodríguez and Ken and Torben from Denmark, started to share ideas about the future of the industry. They were united by the same conviction: Europe needed its own organisation. This idea took shape during a meeting in Orlando, resulting in the birth of EVHA.
Three decades later, the association has members in 24 countries. The aim is to promote higher standards through training, certification and support for better legislation. Its Board brings together experts from all over Europe, including Remotair CEO Andrea Casa.
Two days of news, talks and innovation
The EVHA AGM 2026 programme combined the official members’ session with talks on technician safety, an update on Italian legislation, contributions from a technical university and NADCA, and the presentation of the new EVHA guidelines. At the vendor exhibition, Andrea Casa and Gabriele Riva showcased Remotair’s smart technology for monitoring hygiene conditions inside HVAC systems, sharing valuable conversations about data-driven, evidence-based maintenance.
Lasting connections
As always, the real value lies in the people. During the sessions and activities, we caught up with long-standing colleagues and built new relationships across Europe.
Thank you to EVHA for an unforgettable AGM in 2026.
Here’s to the next 30 years of cleaner air!
